George Behrens is Professor for T Cell Immunology in the Department for Clinical 

Immunology and Rheumatology at Hannover Medical School, Hannover, Germany. 

 

He is an internist and infectious disease specialist and has been working in HIV medicine as a physician scientist for many years. From 2011-2019 he was president of the German AIDS Society and is Governing Board member of the European AIDS Clinical Society (EACS). He is also the current Chair of the EACS HIV Treatment Guidelines, and co-author of various national HIV recommendations in HIV medicine. 

 

He is Chair of the MD/PhD Program “Molecular Medicine” at Hannover Medical School and a faculty member of the Hannover Biomedical Research School (HBRS). He is Principal Investigator of national and international studies in HIV medicine and member of the Steering Committee of the European NEAT ID Network as well as co-chair of the TTU-HIV within the German Centre for Infection Research (DZIF).
